Aperture is a set of three small works on deckled paper, each one a narrow opening onto the structure that runs through my larger paintings: a block of deep blue held against the red line, with a cluster of tiny shapes gathering in the cream beside it. They are made to hang together or alone and are an intimate way into the work.

Series: Palimpsest. Paintings built in layers, scraped back and written over, where earlier marks, figures and fragments surface through the paint, so that what lies beneath is never fully hidden.
